Some Morning Thunder in Quincy.

I love me some Morning Thunder though I haven't been to Quincy in six or seven years. Is it still awesome?

Rode up to Fortuna on Sunday with my brother.  I met my brother on Hwy 101 in Cloverdale, then on hwy 128 to Fort Bragg and then to Leggett and on to Fortuna.  Had dinner at the Eel River Brewery.  Came back on Monday, via Ferndale and the Lost Coast and Honeydew and Briceland before getting back on 101 at Garberville before going home.    The weather on the Lost Coast was quite warm.  650 miles in 2 days.

I rode Sunday on 36, 89, and 49 to Grass Valley.  Then a shorter day yesterday taking 20 (nowhere near as good as the Ft Bragg to Willits section), 99 (meh), 113 (not much better), 16 (improving), I-505 (wasn't on it long), 128 (OH YEAH), Dry Creek Road (a mistake but I'm glad I made it.  Truly a goat trail), and 12 to Santa Rosa.  Today I'll head back home on 101 but taking the old alignments (Dutcher Creek Road, 271, 254) where available.

Ok. So I didn't ride 'today', but.. I did get out last weekend on the mothballed GTS!

Started in Sacramento, rode to Clearlake for breakfast. Then over Hopland Grade, Skaggs Spring Rd for a rest stop at Stewarts Point. Then north on 1 to 128. East to Boonville for a quick break, then back over Hopland Grade to Clearlake for an overnight stop.

Well not today, but on Saturday. Suzy Blue got a new rear tire, so a nice 100 mile scrub-in ride up 33 to the Ozena US Forest Service Fire Station.

Need to shop for a new riding suit. My Joe Rocket Trixie suit is showing its age.

Friday I'm riding to Ashland for a couple days for more pillionizing.  An actual pillion audition!

It was a most excellent pillion audition.  She's a very good pillion and off the bike she's someone I want to be around.  It all went well until we were coming back to my hotel last night and the rear tire went flat a block away.  We walked the rest of the way and napped.  When I woke up, I remembered I had the Anonymous book and I called the local number.  He came right over with tire fixing stuff, including a tube that was almost the right size.

We worked it for over an hour and got the tire remounted but I managed to fuck up the tube and it's still flat.  She hung out and held the light for us.  I told the Anonymous guy that it was our third date.  He agreed that she might be a keeper.

I spent the day chasing my boys around our little town. The oldest was riding his Puch moped, youngest was on the Chappy, and I was chasing them on my new to me Honda CT110. We were the little bike gang, racing all the way up to 25 mph, hooligans the lot of us.

Sorry no pics, too busy having fun  ;D

Today makes 8 days in a row riding.  Just commuting and errands.

The streak will probably end tomorrow as I have to do truck stuff at the big rental.

210 miles, Ashland to melvilleville on 96 and 299.  (with a tiny bit of I-5 to start).

Sunny, warm until 5 miles from home, no traffic to speak of and what I did catch up to promptly waved me by.

A most excellent end to my weekend.

+1 though mine is about 50% twisties most of them quite good. 8 years, and still not boring. Keeps the tire wear nice 'n even.

Not today but a few weeks ago I had to go to Petaluma for work. Somehow I ended up taking HWY 1 home and it took an extra bit of time as I need to stop in Nicasio for local cheese, which in my house is an essential item.

Went to SF National Cemetery to pay my respects. Solemn reminder to honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

Afterwards, decided to take northern route home, so I stopped and snapped this.

A most excellent end to my weekend.

Same again, yesterday.  On the Friday before, I took 299 to Weaverville and then 3 to Yreka and I-5 to Ashland.  Three work zones on 299 and 3 where I filtered to the flagger who then said "15 minutes" on the first one and "20 minutes" on the second one.  The third one didn't say.  Second flagger was chatty and even through the helmet and earplugs we had fun.  She had the same car (R53 Mini Cooper S) as my younger boy.  "I will never sell it!"  After the work zones, I had the highway to myself until the next work zone.  I love California for this!  3 was the usual epic.  The climb to Scott Summit is looking a little chewed up but still awesome.

Then a couple bimbles around Ashland with my lovely pillion.  (Edit--her riding selfie from Saturday!)

Amazing roads, a perfect day (only slightly spoiled by some reprobates that pestered us at breakfast).

Rode my own bike on Saturday for the first time since September (ankle tendonitis, tendon reconstruction surgery, blargh). New motorcycle boots as well, so shifting was.... not as smooth. Rode out for lunch and back for a whopping 35 miles. But it was glorious!
