I have no idea & no plans at the moment.

Frank & Beans is regularly on the menu, maybe Paul or John, Jeeze, I mean Jeets, you never know who will be at the Starlight Friday morning, eh?
Beans in   new tires and valve adjustment ready to ride.

say a little prayer for me, going in monday afternoon for lung surgery. still hoping to make, but looking doubtful.

We're pulling for you and will plan on seeing you in May!

Sometimes we stop for lunch (at Doodle's) or gas in Romney on the way down.  We'll keep an eye out for lunatic bikers.  Wait, that sounds like us!

FYI, this is going on same weekend roughly 3 hrs. away
That weekend has three BMW events from Logan, OH, to Hiwassee, GA, an FJR event in Marietta, Oh, and two or three other miscellaneous (mainly DS) events in the SE.  Gonna be a busy weekend.
It isn't the destination; it's the ride.

Well.  I'm looking out the window and it's sunny and 70 degrees.  So, I booked a room at the Inn!  What could possibly go wrong if we are already having great riding weather?  haha!  I think I know based on the OP's track record!  :D

Jimmy, are you riding straight through?  I'll probably spend Thursday night around Marietta, then ride down Friday catching many twisties.  Be great to ride together.  Gary, what do you think???

As much as i would love to go Nick, I'm saving my vacation time for an around Lake Superior ride later in the summer.

When i was younger, that was true. Used to cross the border and bring back some of the good stuff. That is no longer true. Michigan is now the Great Beer State.   :beerchug:

Wrong Virginia.   This brewery is located in Lewisburg, WV.  It's located across the street from Smooth Ambler distillery.

And not in the town of Greenbrier, which is just down the hill from Marlington.

You had my hopes up there for a few minutes Doug.

I was just tugging a bit on your chain. LOL  I know you definitely like special beer.  I think I'm actually going to make this event for a change.  Friday is my last day of work as an oppressor of the people. LOL   My new profession is going to be Appalachian Drifter. This summer is going to be nostalgia runs through WV and SE/E Ohio.  I've pretty much worn out the roads in N.Ga, W.NC and big chunks of W.Tn.

Changed the oil, adjusted the chain, installed new zumo 595.  Need fresh gas & ready to go

The zumo mount is way overdone.  Unnecessary cables for a Bluetooth device.  Don't understand why the USB cable is twice as long as the others.  Ended up packing enough cable under my cowling to open a copper mine.

My son Chris is OUT, but for a good reason: he starts a new job on May 1st as a process engineer for Ferro Corp making fancy powders. And he's getting married on Apr 22. Big month for him.

So I guess I need to reserve a room unless someone is looking to split a room.

CB and I spent this past weekend at the Omni Homestead...you know, the HUGE resort on 220 in Hot Springs, VA? It was AMAZEBALLS.

To and from, we traversed many of the usual m/c roads, albeit in Scooby Subaru since I'm not yet ready for primetime, shoulder-wise. I made some notes for your consideration as you plot and plans your routes for the meet in a few weeks:

  • There is fresh macadam on Patterson Creek Road!  :burnout:
  • There are logging operations at the top of Smoke Hole Road and the road was VERY dirty.
  • There was quite a bit of center line gravel on the approach to Spruce Knob from The Gateway.
  • The Gateway has been renovated inside and out.
  • There is a GIANT hole in the road on the way to Spruce Knob just prior to the left-hand U-bend at 3,600 ft. elevation.  :wow:

Do with this information what you will, but I thought it was all share-worthy.
I used to make a bigger impression.

Just ran across WV, 47, 20, 39, 219, finishing with VA311.
I found the roads to be a crap shoot.  Anything on the tops of mountains on 20 was chopped up.  Other places were fine.  Also WV was doing its annual spring cleaning in places cleaning out ditches and leaving junk all over the road.  Some places were fine but gas line construction was everywhere but decreased as I went south. 311 was in good shape.  I think things will be typical WV spring riding, great in places and some places not so great.
It isn't the destination; it's the ride.

In other words.... anyone coming from North of the Mason Dixon specifically PA or Delaware will think it's racetrack perfect.

Dear goodness, did ANY roads up here survive this winter?

Ah yes....and also when the pavement ends they neglect to tell you aboot the 18" drop down to the gravel.

Have a friend who nearly lost her father to that very thing.  Big ole HD dresser just dropped off into an abyss.  He barely survived it and was dramatically and permanently altered.

I'm highly considering a twisties and sweepers route with just a dash of gravel roads to check out a future paddling opportunity on the backwaters of the Blackwater and North Branch of the Blackwater rivers.
