Dan put up a window shelf made from a piece of styrofoam. The cats liked it so much, I found an Official Cat Window Seat that someone gave me. Now we have a matched set!

Although these two aren't actually our dogs, they were our puppies.

On the left, Rhiley.  On the right is Riley's son Lucky.  Lucky has grown quite a bit and now is taller but not quite as filled in as his dad.

Loki has a thing for not wanting to miss out on anything. Therefore he has taken to sleeping on my foot while I'm on the couch. That way, if I get up he'll notice immediately!

Unless, that is, he is really sleepy and I leave my slipper behind as a decoy  :couch:  This is what the result of one such evasion looks like.

We used to have ferrets many years ago.  Our first, a little tiny sable named Sam, was the smartest pet of any kind we've ever had. She was unbelievably clever- and that's not a good thing in a pet.

She looked a lot like little Elizabeth Ann, and when I sent my wife the link to that article on the cloning she said "No, we can't get one."

I was always intrigued by ferrets but many states restrict them because if they get out they are an invasive species. That, and the stories about how they get into trouble. That sounds entertaining until you have to live with what amounts to a much more able 2 year old.

The invasive species thing is completely specious.  It has never actually happened, but poultry farmers have somehow spread the idea that it could.

As far as pets go, they have their pros and cons.  On the positive side, they are very, very intelligent and affectionate and playful. On the con side, the phrase "to ferret things out" is based on reality.  They are far, far more inquisitive than you might possibly imagine and can get into things you'd never have suspected were at risk.

Also, they don't live very long.  And they need to be de-scented, and even then need baths.  Thankfully, they love baths.
