Meet Beckett, our newest pack member. 8 weeks old and came home from the shelter with us today. Golden Retriever and Lab, looks like some terrier. Dogs now outnumber humans again, 3 to 2.

A chuckle for the dog families.   ;D  (borrowed from a friend)

Dear Dogs: The dishes with the paw prints are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.

I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to ensure your comfort, however. Dogs can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep. It Is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other, stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out on the other end to maximize space is nothing but sarcasm.

For the last time, there is no secret exit from the bathroom! If, by some miracle, I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge in an attempt to open the door. I must exit through the same door I entered.

The proper order for kissing is: Kiss me first, then go smell the other dog butt. I cannot stress this enough.

Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.

We've only just recently recovered from the loss of our last dear companion, and began cruising the Interwebs looking for what might come next.

My wife sent a message to a former co worker, but the woman had no pug puppies available.

A quick check of the website for APARN (www.aparn.org) found this description:

RASCAL & TEDDY – 4 & 6 YEARS – MALES
Hello potential new family!  We are Rascal (fawn 4 yr old male) and Teddy (black 6 yr old male) and we would love to find our forever home! We MUST stay together.  We get along fine with other pugs, and while we do know how to share a lap or a bed, we would really prefer to have a home where we are either the only dogs, or perhaps there is one more older dog.  We are both in good health, and have no special needs –  other than as much lap time and attention as you can give!

Our only real requirement is a home with no children/grandchildren. We are laid back pugs, and prefer a very calm house. We just want to relax and watch tv with you, and snuggle with you under your blanket when it is cold.  If we sound like a pair you would like to meet, please submit your application!

WOW, this kinda sounded like a pair of dogs that needed us.  We contacted Terry at APARN, and learned that they came from an older couple.  The wife passed away, and the husband was unable to care for them.  The owner left a stipulation that the two dogs be adopted only as a pair.

Fast-forward the calendar to January 31st.

The next day, we went to my office, while I handled some work and conference calls.  They found their respective pet beds and proceeded to be bored..... only as pugs should be.

Then, we took a ride in the truck to Ensenada.  We decided to relegate them to the back seat.  Our prior pugs have insisted on sitting on our laps.  We wanted to see if we could clean-slate this behaviour, and have them happy among their own spaciousness.  After some initial whining, it worked.

They got (what we think is) their first view of the ocean.   Predictably, as they're non-sporting dogs, neither of them were really impressed with the whole water-thing.

Fast-forward to today!  Double-trouble in my lap.   (I had to over-expose it to show the black one.  He's quite stealthy, and doesn't always photograph well.)

Just a baby.
Miles,

Is that a Bull Terrier?

No- the opposite of.  It's an Ibizan hound.

Gotcha, your pup with the long nose bridge sure reminded me of the several bullies I've had. Beautiful dog and I'm looking forward towards seeing it mature. ;)

Unfortunately, it isn't my pup.  The litter is from a breeder friend of ours over at the bottom end of your coast.  She just keeps sending us an unending stream of completely adorable baby pics.

So, there's some timing for ya...  Note the time of my previous post.  We JUST 10 minutes ago, found out that we are in fact next in line in the puppy pick process and that Mr. Blue whatever that thing is he's wearing is IN FACT, ours if we want him.  Usually there are no available puppies as they all have homes generally at one week but his previous intended had a bad accident that involved some head trauma which sucks horribly but dude still needs a home.  Call us available.  He's 5 weeks old and we can go to Columbus OH to get him in three (extremely long) weeks.

So, meet HEMI:  He doesn't know that's his name yet, but it is.

Hi all, new here, first 2 threads were jiggly bits and pets, liking this forum so far!

Every now and again somebody around here will post something about motorbikes, but we generally do our best to ignore them.

Good to know forum nuances, although I gotta say I'm totally enjoying Virginian's XR1200 thread :-X
