Snow
« on: December 04, 2013, 08:59:42 AM »
It's December, so this snow will be staying around.  Yep, riding season is officially over.

It's not going to stay around on the street.  :headscratch:

We said goodbye to the lawn before thanksgiving.  Did 350 miles on Sunday.

I don't know where you live but around here, temps usually stay below freezing throughout winter.  So, between the cold temps, salt-laden streets, and potential ice patches, that's not something that I want to entertain.

I don't know what you're talking about.
I rode to work today.
Fog was a much bigger problem.

I don't usually get to ride on weekends so its been
over a month since I rode in daylight. Bummer.

I had a job this morning in the western part of the state. I was freezing my ass off and it was cloudy with some light precipitation. I get back to the garage and I'm sweating. I then realize I still have my winter jacket on and it's sunny and 69.

You have no idea how JEALOUS I am of all that snow! Here in Morgantown (in spite of what it USED to do when you were here Doug) all it does is piss enough half-snow, half-rain crap to make everything ugly and depressing. It doesn't actually snow (for real, like that) around here any more.

Motorcycling be damned---I've dreamed all my life of living someplace where there is reliably 2-3' (or more) of snow on the ground all winter. That's because I love XC skiing, snowshoeing, and snowboarding!

O)nbly three years ago, I bought a Suzuki SV650, The road was a foot deep in snow,

Somehow, I got the bike onto the maiun road going up from Brighton. So, I tried it out. Fresh snow, 130mph, worked.

I forgot to post these last week.  So on one of our snow days I ran to the brewer's supply to get some ingredients.  The roads were pretty bad, but I was in the truck- no big deal.  I just took it easy:

Right until I came around a curve on  the highway, saw a car sliding and go for the median, which is divided by a guard rail.  The dude hit the snow, and directly on front of me, came up partway over the guardrail.  His driver's side front tire was hanging in the air, the passenger side front tire hooked, which kept it from coming into my lane hitting me head-on.  Here's the picture I took on the way back.  Of course I don't think the cop was impressed that I was snapping a pic:

Pretty much scared the shat out of me.  I was thinking more about if *I* could drive there safely than if some other numbskull would hit me.  That one could have been bad.
