Needed: Kid sized protective gear
« on: December 03, 2013, 02:46:53 PM »
My riding has hit an all time low - but I did get out on Sunday for a 3 hour tour.

While I was charging up the battery and airing up tires, by almost 7 year old climbed up on the bike and screamed
"I CAN TOUCH THE PEGS!!!"  The ensuing dance and crazy antics were awesome.

This was shocking news to me as it has been so long since I was riding we stopped checking.

I promised her I would take her out for a real ride only when she could reach the back pegs with both feet and it seems that time has come.

Does anyone have a street bike helmet that would fit a 7 year old girl they want to sell for not much?  Gloves, jeans and a riding jacket of some type will be needed as well - but I think I can improvise there with more success.

This is a cool day - I cant wait to gear her up and go for a spin, and need to get my skills up again to make it safe.

7 years is a long time to wait to share something one enjoyed so much.

I have a black full-face helmet that does not fit my kids anymore.  Let me check and make sure we still have it at home.

I should also have a small (non-armored) leather jacket and gloves, but let me check on those, too.  I'd be happy to help.

I think I can help.  The Super Munchkin out grew a lot of her gear recently (damn growth spurt!) I have mostly dirt bike gear, and a couple if riding suits somewhere.  I'll let you know tomorrow. I get home way too late in the evenings to be rummaging around.

Everyone, KinderRider might be out of operation for a bit... Mike needs a few weeks.

Since so many have rallied to help me and my family and I have been unable to update anyone till now I thought you all would like hearing from me.
Saturday while starting the fuel pump swap a flash fire occurred in my garage which I was caught in. I have been at the Burn Unit at Wake Forest Medical Center since Saturday evening. I have 2nd and 3rd degree burns on hands left arm and left leg. The leg being the worse. The doctors reviewed my status this morning and I will go to surgery on Thursday or Friday for grafting. With that being the case I will likely be here for 2 weeks before heading home to start recovery.
Thanks to all of my friends
I will keep you updated.

Having spent a little time in a burn unit a few years back I have the greatest sympathy for Kinder.

Heal up and Do NOT itch the new growth.

My memory is a bit foggy as to when these fit The Super Munchkin but I believe the Baby Biker items size Medium fit her between ages 6-8, the Large 7-9.  The Firstgear Women's Small I bought for her when she was I think 10.

Just for grins, what size is the munchkin?

I have some Small Womens stuff, jacket , pants (Joe Rocket) and HJC Symax helmet. Has not been worn in years and probably will never be again (dammit).
