Region 6 Spring 2014 Meet - Ansted, WV
« on: December 03, 2013, 12:49:42 PM »
Mark your calendars NOW for the Region 6 Spring 2014 Meet to be held from Friday, April 25 through Sunday, April 27, 2014.

Our home base for 2014 will be Hawks Nest State Park in Ansted, WV.

www.hawksnestsp.com

ACCOMMODATIONS
Lodge rooms at Hawks Nest State Park will be $75/night during our stay. That rate includes a continental breakfast each morning. Beds vary from room to room - rooms with one king, one queen, or two doubles are available. Please indicate your preference when making your reservation. All rooms are non-smoking. Check-in time is 3 PM; check-out time is 12 noon.

$75/night lodge rooms (2 double beds, 1 queen, or 1 king), plus 6% sales tax and 6% hotel/motel tax

Room Block – A total of 21 lodge rooms have been reserved for our group, with the option to exceed that block. The lodge has 31 rooms total, so there is the possibility we could sell out the property. Our block of rooms will be held until Friday, April 11, 2014. After that date, any remaining inventory in the block will be released to the general public.

Cancellation Policy – Hawks Nest has a 48-hour cancellation policy for Lodge Rooms should the weather or personal circumstances necessitate a change in your plans.

Deposit – Deposits equal to the amount of one night’s lodging ($84) will be collected at time of reservation.

FOOD
Hawks Nest State Park has a full-service restaurant (Hawks Nest Restaurant) onsite which will be open during our stay from 8 AM until 8 PM each day.

http://www.hnrwv.com/

SOCIALIZING
Per the contract, “Consumption of alcoholic beverages in public areas is forbidden by state law, therefore please confine such beverages to guestrooms.” This is the same policy to which we’re asked to adhere at the Winter Meet…wink-wink, nudge-nudge. (Translation: Don’t flaunt it. Bring a cup. Be cool.)

PETROL
There is a Shell in Ansted (1.5 miles northeast of the park) and an Exxon in Smithers (11 miles west of the park).

ROUTES
To, from, and around HNSP will be spectacular. Case closed!

Cablebandit, Smoker, Andrea, and I did a site visit to HNSP back in October as part of our Bourbon Tour. This is what I wrote about HNSP:

Quote
Part of what really solidified HNSP as a good location for a motorcycle meet was the fact that as soon as we made the left turn out of the parking lot of the park, US 60 got "crazy good" immediately as it wound its way down the mountain to meet up with the New and Kanawha Rivers.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO
1. Put in your vacation requests at work and at home!

2. Call 304-658-5212, and ask for reservations in the “Spring Motorcycle Tour Group” room block (Elizabeth Clark – coordinator).

3. Talk it up with other ST.Oers and start plotting/planning your rides!

This looks like fun, but I'm taking so much time off school in January I'm not sure I can plan too much else until I get back at the end of January and assess the damage.

Putting this on the calendar. Did squat for riding this year and that would make a great start to next year. Love 16/60 from gauley bridge up to the look out.

This 350-ish mile loop kicks ass. That said, I might do 20 on the way down, 16 on the way home, and head for points south for the Saturday loop...

Sheri and I have marked this weekend on our calendars.  We’re both in!  This will be her first meet.  We’ll be arriving via the hack.  Low and slow will be the theme.

You have the coolest colored Ural on the planet.  Any chance for parking lot rides for those of us that have never been in a side car?  It's something I would like to experience once in my life.   ;D

You bet!  And, it should be more fun and less dangerous than what Tom's proposing.   ;D
