Not to pop all your cherry's but wasn't there a stator & rectifier issue? I know of two that have failed.

Also about a 15 minute repair, so I'd consider it - like a lot of generational Hondas - a "do it before you have to" kind of preventative maintenance.

I was considering a Blackbird when I bought my first VFR.  The one thing I didn't like about the Birds was the fuel mileage.

I hear it's 30-40 mpg. Not great.

It's an inline-4 big bore with high revs; yes, it's going to eat more fuel than a like-sized twin, etc. * shrug *

Better than any car you're likely to want, and more fun and WAY more solid and reliable than a whole lot of other bikes in a similar price range....

I'd hit it (with your cash).
 :leghump:

Been to see it, bonded with its current owner and am going to buy. Wifey is unhappy.

Hayabusa, 130,000 miles, 46-52mpg when traveling, had the rectifier/regulator bail on me once forcing a truck bed ride home.

So now you can give your friend his VFR back?

Good choice, Papa. County would approve. ;)
If it weren't for the therapeutic properties of the occasional off-camber decreasing radius downhill right-hander I'd almost certainly go completely sane.

It's night time there now. Papa is probably in bed dreaming about his new/used ride.

Almost, he's thinking the couch is rather uncomfortable... but it's worth it.
