Yesterday was my day off from the kids! (daycare day, woo!)

I:
* Submitted payroll for my mom's two caregivers
* Took Alex's 17 month pics, height, and weight for my kids blog
* Took the kids to daycare
* Had a personal training session at the park
* Updated the kids blog
* Made a couple of appointments
* Watched Deadliest Catch
* Went through my closet and filled a bag with donations
* Caught up on email
* Set up a Task Rabbit to run an errand for me
* Met with a friend for an hour
* Picked up the kids from daycare
* Set up new patio furniture with my brother
* Dinner with kids and brother
* Painted with kids
* Gave kids bath
* Put kids to bed
* Hung out with hubby, bro, and bro's girlfriend

So, a pretty normal day off.  :lol:  I actually felt a little bit slacking.

Oh, I'm sure the kids had a nap. I think it's mandatory at all daycares.

Ordered a guitar (Gibson 2013 SG Future Tribute). I don't need it and really had no business buying it.

I played one at a local shop a few months ago, loved it, thought about it for a couple days and went back to buy it at full price. It was gone. It was a 2013 left over. They said they couldn't get a hold of another one. MF had a 'Stupid Deal of the Day" on it today. $300 off. I snapped.

I guess that Gretch is going to wait a while.

I was looking at this one too but it's not available until August apparently. A Gary Clark signature model.

Nice, looks like the one I bought me for my birthday without the pick guard:

I spent the day yesterday, heads down, revamping the Course<->Standards correlation (oh, that crazy Common Core!) in the lesson-builder application we're writing, then Liz took me to Bone Fish Grill for dinner 'cause she decided I needed a break. That was a fine dinner. She treats me entirely too well.  :inlove:

If all goes well, I'll have a box from bike Bandit waiting for me after work, and this evening will be some garage work, getting the Reflex 250 running, and maybe the Savage I'm working on for an old high school friend.

Or I'll veg in front of the tv. :shrug:

That's pretty!

The one I ordered is black just because that's the one that was on sale. It's kind of an oddball guitar. It has an asymmetrical neck which is super comfortable but a little strange when you're used to a Stratocaster baseball bat. They used the Steinberger gearless tuners like on the Firebird. The ratio is supposed to be 40:1. I'm not sure how they do that if they really are gearless. I'm not crazy about the look of the Zebracoil pickups. I may add a set of nickel covers.

I looked over my soon to be 20 years old daughter's shoulder as she went through the trials and tribulations of buying her first car with her own earned and saved money. I couldn't be more proud. Now she doesn't have to drive her grandfather's Buick to school anymore.

One caveat--it did involve a 340 mile round trip by me on my Suzuki into the hell of the Central Valley's blast furnace, but it was worth it.

Yesterday afternoon was spent repairing the sprinkler line that our black lab dug up 'cause he was pissed we left him at home. Apparently, spending Saturday at the Giants-Diamondbacks game disrupted his weekend routine.

Oh and we had to replant the 3 cucumbers he dug up at the same time.

Dumb bastard.   >:(

Today I'm taking the new weed wacker out of the box, gassing and oiling it up, then trimming the yard, cutting the grass, putting new tires on Liz's car (tire rack rocks), finishing up (assuming parts come as expected) the Reflex and the Savage torn apart in the garage. Shoulder surgery on Monday, so hoping to get a lot banged out this weekend.

Sent an email to the VP with several questions about the new BYOD policy including such things as:

If I don't have a supported phone, must I buy one or will the company provide one? At least one sysadmin has a flip phone and one dba doesn't have a personal phone.

Will the monitoring environment be fixed so we don't get a shitload of pages when some stupid switch takes a crap or due to slow network connectivity between data centers?

Can we just go back to pagers?

Now I'm working on my resume. Some nice ones out there to steal from :)

Busted my ass setting up shat to entertain the in-laws coming over for my daughter's birthday party (everything has to be just so), grilled meat far past well done to their liking (managed a couple of rare burgers for myself and aforementioned awesome daughter), hung out, had a few beers, celebrated birthday, spent time taking shat down.  Sweated my ass off, took a dip in the pool, now I'm finally sitting in the barn enjoying my own whiskey.  Do I sound bitter?   :crazy:  That might be a passive aggressive post...

It's okay, NOTCLAY. I get angry when I have to ruin good meat, too.
If it weren't for the therapeutic properties of the occasional off-camber decreasing radius downhill right-hander I'd almost certainly go completely sane.

Screw all that.  I'm going for a ride.  On the XR.  Later!

Me, myself, and I.

I park vehicles on them and through the years they have settled and shifted. It was starting to  turn into a safety hazard.

I worked in my vegetable garden.  I brought a friend from work to see my garden.  She's a city girl, attractive and only about 30, and hasn't done any gardening, ever.  I showed her how to pick zucchini and fava beans.  Then she came to my home and I showed her how to cook them.  It's OK with my wife.  My wife knows my friend and I'm not in trouble !!  ;D

On a side note, she also had never been on a motorcycle.  I fixed that as well.  I could hear her laughing with excitement several times when accelerating to red line on the Tiger.  I put something exciting between her legs - a motorcycle.
