I had to buy a pack of 50 purple LEDs, so I guess Little Bit's purple cat costume is getting some farkles too.  :augie:

I got treated like a human pin cushion today. Went to the doctor for a routine check-up, which includes blood work for my wonky thyroid. I have a vein in my left arm that you can see from across a room. It's big. Red Cross workers get STEAMED UP when they see this baby. So naturally, two nurses making three attempts couldn't draw blood from it.

I had to leave my GP's office and go to the lab to see a phlebotomist because as nurse #2 told me, "You've got a nice one in your right arm, but it's DEEP. They'll have to root around to find it, but I can feel it in there." [sidebar: that's what she said]

I get to the lab, tell the phlebotomist the tale, she looks at my right arm, taps it twice, tells me to squeeze my hand, and pokes me, draws the two vials, and has me bandaged up before I can even blink.

"Phlebotomy - where people saying 'are you in yet' and 'I didn't even feel it' is a good thing!"
I used to make a bigger impression.

I will occasionally play driving sims (rally, etc...) on my PC and haven't played games since college.  I am intrigued by these modern day open world games.  The graphics blow me away.

'Tween season. Weather can't make up it's mind for autumn or winter. Lowes has been well underpopulated for sales and they've been cutting hours right and left. I've usually got my hand up volunteering, as the kids need the hours to pay rent and stuff. Been doing my part on sales with a couple $1000 sales tickets out this week. I've gone from 46 scheduled hours to 30 so far this pay period. The extra check this week was a nice supplement to the mad money fund.     I can smell the camper fund growing nicely. Was thinking pop up, but may go with a Class C RV instead. Add a bike carrier on the back and hit the road for rallies and exploration.

Linda's on the road for three weeks now. Left for Haverhill via Boston Logan this morning, home on Saturday, out on Sunday for Bloomsburg, PA, then Princeton, NJ with a day in Harrisburg chilling between those.

Calling for rain all afternoon here, that'll keep the sales down today.

I *think* that's play scene, though I think the scenery is zone-rendered ahead of time, and treated like a 3d backdrop, then you walk through subsets of the world at a time. Certain real-time elements are then added on overlay. Camera perspective is fungible within the zone, and then the next zone is pre-rendered while you're moving around the world. There's a metric shit tonne of speculative pre-rendering in down-moments and simple movements, and such.

... all of this is assuming the article I read on modern game development about 5? 6? months ago is even remotely accurate. The theories presented made a lot of sense. I'll try to dig it up again. I want to say it was on Medium, and had a title something like "3d? Sure, we got your 3d." (or something like that).

We went the full-size route this year (thank you, Amazon deal of the day!). I bought 60 bars (2 30-packs). We had 16 kids.

We also had some rain, so...

...but now we have 44 candy bars at home. Well, 42...we each had a Hershey bar last night after we turned the lights off at 8:30.

"Scouting for Food" is tomorrow in our neighborhood. I asked my neighbor, who's one of the Scoutmasters, how many boys will be taking part in the pick-ups tomorrow so I can provide snacks for them!
I used to make a bigger impression.

Welded up the left steering knuckle for the Toro LX500 lawn tractor.  I think it took out something else in the steering system when it broke.   :bluduh:   Front wheel alignment is way off now.  Yes, I double checked that the weld was in the correct place.  I will have to pull it all apart and look at it again.  Wish I had the ATV decking for my motorcycle lift.

Ordered new blades, oil and air filters, deck belt and a few other maintenance items needed for it too.  Veteran's Day, I will order the new rear triple bagger/leaf collection system for it, as I get 20% off at Lowes that day with my military and employee discount combined.  Only works on Veterans day and Memorial Day for us.   ;D

I'm new to this forum, so I thought I'd post some comments on the social threads.

My wife and I just retired, and we plan to sell our house to downsize.  Apparently, HGTV has declared polished brass forbidden, so my first month of freedom has been spent replacing perfectly good and functional faucets with differently-finished faucets, and replacing or painting light fixtures, cabinet pulls, and towel bars.  Today I rehung a painted-over light fixture at the kitchen island and replaced the light fixture over the kitchen table.   I'm almost working as much as when I went to the office.  On the plus side, I now know how to use a basin wrench.

I suppose this was moto-related, but what a blast.  One of our teachers was legendary with his '94 (I think) Saturn.  It was such a POS he wouldn't sell it to someone to drive.  He knew I wanted it- so he found out he would get $100 at the scrapyard, so myself, my brother, and a buddy bought it.  It met it's end at the farm Saturday:

Drove mom to Hartford to have lunch with a friend of hers from our home town. The woman passes through twice a year coming from North to south and visa versa in the spring. My friend Jessica (the first woman I ever slept with) picks her mom up in Western Ct and I pick up The Mominator in Brookfield Ma. and we meet at the Cheesecake Factory in East Hartford.

All the Toro LX500 tractor parts arrived in spurts last week and got installed yesterday morning. Fresh oil/filter, air filter, spark plug, blades and belt along with a full grease job on all the suspension parts.  Fired it up and it's 75% quieter and sounds like new.  Ran it around the yard to clean up the loose leaves left after blowing the big piles into the forested areas.  Amazing how much better it works too!

Gonna top of the tank, run it around the yard one more time today, then down into the basement for the winter.  The ST will follow it, as the weather has turned and shows no signs of any semblance of warmth returning.  I'll have a garage again for the winter.

Today my doggo from the avatar went in for his pre-Thanksgiving spa day.  He's looking & smelling good now.  One more year and he's old enough to get his driver's license!

I spent the time waiting by getting my own hair cut, looking at cars and motorcycles I'm not going to buy, and seeing what the big box stores are getting in new inventory.  The latter was a little frustrating because, while it appears that Craftsman tools will be surviving Sears' imminent demise, the new Craftsman battery-powered hand tools appear to be using a different battery than my slightly older Craftsman drill.
I broke the internet!

Some a-hole got me sick so I spent yesterday either sleeping or sipping hot tea spiked with honey bourbon and watching the last two episodes of "The Last Ship."

Today, I'm at work sipping hot tea sans honey bourbon (although, really...who would know? ) and wondering if I could perform a self-sinusectomy. Maxillary sinuses...they're really for show, right?!
I used to make a bigger impression.

There with ya. All the feelz. Been down with a severe cold for about 4 days now. Can't talk because my throat is so sore. Can't take regular medication because it can't get past the sore throat. Went to a minute clinic because I didn't want to wait for a walk in at my PCP. Not strep. Not flu (I've had the real flu only once and you NEVER want that). Treat the symptoms. So that's what I've been doing with OTC stuff of many varied kinds. The most effective has been Theraflu flu and sore throat. It at least gets my throat under control long enough that I can sip down a diluted tomato soup; overly thinned or even that wont go down. On an interesting side note, MyFitnessPal is chastising me for not eating enough calories.

Maybe I'm just getting old, but the common cold puts me on my ass these days. HARD. Absolutely miserable :(

Someone at my meeting this morning just had to hug me. Seriously, do I look like I want a hug?
In doing so she knocked my phone out of my hand and  it landed case open on a pebble, cracking it completely from the center outwards.
I spent a good 4.5 hours driving to the closest repair place (it's a new phone, I wanted it done well as opposed to me doing it) it took an hour and a half and cost $135.00.
I did have a good burger while I waited though.

...wondering if I could perform a self-sinusectomy.

Lemme know if that works and PM the instructions.

Anxously awaiting something that works better than hot tea & bourbon, though it ain’t a bad solution.
