Smoked cherry ale. It's different for sure.  I think it'll age nicely in a few months.

I cooked down about 15lbs of frozen plums and pluots along with a couple of lbs of granulated sugar last night for the next batch. It's going into the fermenter tonight.

4405

Broke the pin on the shift shaft during reassembly.  :bash:

Coming from this place,

I was thinking about riding out to pick it up but it would of cost me twice the shipping in gas.

Pulled this out of bottling today- the chocolate raspberry stout needs a little more time to come together but it'll be pretty good.

Mount Begbie Brewing Company Tall Timber Ales, then some less than stellar Steam Whistle Premium pilsners to get rid of them, to be followed by Crown Royal Maple. I'm going out in the shop to work with non-cutting type power tools and should have my swerve on by the time I get my signal lights mounted, but the whiskey is only for after I get done in the shop! LMAO

It was interesting- from Saugatuck Brewing Co (one of my favorites).  You could really taste the strawberry and chocolate, the vanilla was much more subtle.  A sipper to be sure.

During our vacation, I was able to sample some wonderful new-to-me whiskies.

*  High West Double Rye from Park City, Utah.   It was surprisingly light and smooth for such a high rye mash bill.  I can't think of a better rye for the money except for George Dickel Rye.

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

*  AH Hirsch Reserve.  This is a very smooth and fairly complex bourbon.  And, I can't believe how little I paid for such a generous pour in a brandy sniffer!  While AH Hirsch doesn't go for as much as a Pappy's, it is around $300 per bottle.

*  Knob Creek Rye.  I'm a fan of Knob Creek Bourbon.  In fact, it's one of my readily available favorites.  Compared to other Ryes I've had lately, this one was too powerful and bitter for my taste.

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

*  The Balvenie 21 (Port Wood).  This is the smoothest oldest Scotch I've had.  It was wonderful!  It's a shame it costs so much.  I like it much better than my Macallan 18 (Sherry Wood aged).

No drunk posts from me tonight.  But, had I posted up last Thursday night, you would have got just that.

I never had the opportunity to post a quick review of the different whiskies I was able to enjoy while out and about.  I'd love to hear from others whom may have a like or dislike of these fine aged brown liquids of goodness.

Bottled the honey sage and Belgian triple last night while drinking apple crisp ale.

I liked the apple beer enough that I'm trying something similar tonight, only with roasted peaches, brown sugar, and biscuit. Should taste like peach cobbler when it's done.

Done working on the jeep for today so I checked in here. I _thought_ I was in for the night, but no, I'm now looking to make a beer or liquor run. Who knows what'll happen  `prolly some local brew.

A good and different taste...

Last night I had a screw driver with dinner.

Stayed at the Days Inn in Rhinelander WI. The motel had a bar and restaurant
At the risk of encouraging him, I agree with Cookie.   "Bomber"

I believe I may have found a bourbon under $30 that I like better than Four Roses

Impressive.  We'll done Heaven Hill.

Here tonight http://saugatuckbrewing.com/.  Fish and chips, which was fantastic.  Singapore IPA, "The HaiG" IPA, a neopolitan milk stout on Nitrogen tap (yes you can teste the three flavors), and another Singapore to bring it home.  Their Singapore IPA is possibly my favorite IPA- for sure in the top three.

I know someone that works there.  Two cases of Singapore, a half a case of Neoplotin milk stout.  Total investment?  $5.40.   :bigok:

Went and saw John Wick tonight. Had a bit of a rough day. Brought a flask of Makers 46 and poured most of it into a giant coke icee. Felt like I was in college. Best part? Wife liked the movie.

Got in from business travel late on Friday, so kind of a sluggish weekend. Having a Belgian trippel and some of the honey sage ale.

Made two gallons of maple chocolate porter this morning. :beerchug:

Bailey's Chocolate Cherry...it's new and AMAZING.

I also baked with it...an original creation - Bailey's Chocolate-Chocolate Chip Cherry Chunk Cookies. They garnered an immediate Cablebandit seal of approval.
I used to make a bigger impression.
