After talking to another member, I have a question for everyone here... what do we want to do?

As most have said they are happy for Neal, but they are worried about the future of STN. Speaking from experience, new forum owners have a tendency to do their own thing and forget about the community of members. That's why I immediately got this place going and to be honest, I didn't think so many would find it as quickly as they did and that brings me back to the question above.

What do we want to do?

Some feel this board might have a detrimental affect on STN, so do we want to get it ready and then shut it down to new members?

As I said, I've been through this before and the last time we didn't act quickly. To this day there are still old members who find the new site and make comments like, "I wondered where everyone went."

My plan for this place is to allow everyone from STN to come here in the same "position" they had at the other place. That's what makes us a community, the people.

If STN falls apart, I truly expect to see Neal here because he can finally have fun and give some of you the crap he's always wanted to give you, but knew he couldn't as the Skipper of STN.

Please share you thoughts here or send me a PM if you don't want to speak publicly.

I plan on being present in both. I would like to see some photo tagging and some of the things that STN has like the did you ride today threads. I'm sure ride reports will pop up. A little effort on everyone's part to post in both would help in the long run.

I'm not sure how I feel about it.  One one hand I'd hate to close it in case people feel the need, on the other I don't want to add a nail to what could be the STN coffin (but I CERTAINLY hope not!).  I plan to check in here but do most of my posting on STN for now; after all, things are still the same so far and for that I'm grateful.

We need a thumbs up smiley here.

I think you should let this place evolve on it's own.  Don't  close it.  As far as your concern about it being a detriment to ST.N, I don't think that will occur unless ST.N becomes an undesirable place.  There is also the possibility that people may find this place, and discover ST.N as well.  So in that case ST.N would benefit.

I personally plan to still hang out at ST.N and see how it goes.  I'll also be active here.

After all, arent we trying seek out and explore new life forms?  To boldly ride where no man has ridden before.

I say just let it evolve naturally.  The new owners will destroy STN as we know it.  It may not be right away but it will happen.  As I said, they've done it to every other forum they've bought over the years.

I'm sure for a while it will be a lot like the current split on the Concours Forums.  There are certain people that cross post the identical thing to both sites.  However, as time goes on people seem to gravitate to one or the other.

Hi All.  Seems like just yesterday I signed up for the other STN.  Lots of miles since then.  Haven't been around much lately.  Honestly I was tired of the ads and the whining about 'content'.  I preferred it when it was just a message board.  Met a lot of folks.  Conversed with even more.  Maybe we'll get back to that.

Hopefully we can stay ad free.  After all I am familiar with the costs of such a site and it's not that much.  If help is needed on the admin or moderation side just ask.

P.S.
Forgot to mention that I too say just let it ride and the two sites will sort themselves out.

Firstly, thank you FJR1300 for carpe-ing the diem and setting this up proactively. Just in case. If you want to establish some sort of donation system I'm down provided there are stickers.

I'm registered on a couple of forums, but STn is the only one I check and post in because I like the atmosphere. And for some reason I like the indigenous asshats. I've enjoyed hanging out in Neal's house. I'm in the keep going to both and see what turns into what camp.
If it weren't for the therapeutic properties of the occasional off-camber decreasing radius downhill right-hander I'd almost certainly go completely sane.

LOL! I don't ride as much as I used to or as much as I'd like too, but hopefully all that will change. Maybe this new site will help motivate me & get me back in the mood. As much I loved ST.Net, all the BS & drama was killing it for me. New forum = new Stripes!

So it turns out I might not be that popular at my other hangout.  I thought I'd come on over here and just see how things are- plus I want to learn about riding and stuff.

So... what's this forum worth?  8)

Well, it depends.  At this point I'm not really interested in any forums.  I have my hands full right now.
