Parenting success
« on: November 15, 2013, 04:44:49 PM »
My 14 yr daughter text me a while back and I wished I would have kept the screen grab. Went something like this.

Daughter: Black Sabbath will be at the Verizon Amp this weekend
Me: With Oz Man as front man?
Daughter: Not sure but I would think so
Me: Crazy Train
Daughter:Are you going off the rails?
Me: Mental wounds not healing
Daughter: Is it driving you insane?

I thought it was pretty cool and funny.

When my kids were young they listened to those damn "Kidz Bop" cds... I finally burned them a CD I called "Dad's Bop" with all my favorite songs. Crazy Train was one of them. They both still love that song and the CD is still kicking around here somewhere...

My son and daughter have been arguing for years over who gets my vinyl collection.  8)

My son was playing Hendrix riffs at age 14. My daughter quotes Zappa all the time.

Sadly, both of my kids quote Monty Python and Young Frankenstein.  :-[

After tutoring, I weep for the future of humanity.  I'm an engineer with a horrible memory, and I remember more of my high school vocab than these kids are learning. Math is a watered down POS unless you are in the most advanced track.  The school most of my students attend is one of the hardest high schools in the entire state.

Even if you make decent money, don't buy your kid every itoy that comes out and let them think life will always continue with nice things and little work.  Try to make them understand that they will also have to work hard if they want to have the things their parents do.

Sounds like you are doing a pretty good job so far.  No justin bieber concert tickets for them.  :)

Same daughter is carrying a 4.0 and scored two goals and an assist tonight during her first high school water polo game. Sorry, its a proud dad moment right now. ;D

Here's a convo I had with my daughter not long ago when I learned she'd never had a twinkie...
