Well Region Six, where did we ride today?
« on: November 14, 2013, 12:55:14 PM »
OSJ started a thread in .net for posting pics of our daily adventures. We need one here.

Today it was great to get out even if only for a couple of local hours. Some photo tagging and exploring roads I've never been on before. It was a good little ride.

I did a short 150 mile loop this afternoon to see if they've started draining the lake about an hour from here.  From there I headed over to the Piper Museum to see if anything was going on there.  Then it was home on the usual suspects and a few I haven't been on in a while.

It was a beautiful day for a ride.

I got out after lunch for a 200 mile jaunt down the spine of the Laurel Highlands into WV (barely). Gassed up in Bruceton Mills and pointed it north via a different route. Nice afternoon on the bike. Got home in fading daylight but still managed to put the Christmas lights on the house before dark.

That WR is coming along nicely Hov.  I know better then to ask if you miss the G450X.   :D

The G450X was a full on race ride with a plate, so it handled horribly on pavement stretches between gravel and woods, but was quite the bike once you got there.  The WR is quite stable on pavement, and as I'm not seeking podium finishes on the gravel or in the woods, does well there.  For my intended purposes, I find I'm much more likely to hop on and ride than to drag out a trailer and haul to ride. . ..   :beerchug:

And the 26K valve intervals don't hurt. . ..

I've been considering a WR250R to either replace or supplement my G650X.  Supplement I think I'd be ok, but as a replacement I'm worried I'd really miss the power.  I have been looking at the KTM 350 & 500 dual sports.

I've never seen one since I work weekends but they look set up to be capable. This is in Barre on 122 just north of town.

Were they intimidated by a pair of real motorcycles?   ;D

I rode down to Oley,PA for the Turkey Pro National.  It was a tad brisk when I left (12 degrees) but quickly warmed up to a toasty 16 degrees for most of the trip before the sun came up.

I'm working on that for Felicia.  We went and bought the heavy insulated Sedici pants on Sunday and I'm getting her the Sedici heated jacket liner for Christmas.  We just need to find a good jacket.

Even with the proper gear I wouldn't have brought her on the bike Sunday.  It was too cold for the salt to even work so I wouldn't risk anything happening to her in those conditions.

Game of Thrones reference:
When I got home Sunday night I told Beth that Seven Mountain is "The Wall"  and we live north of it.  I guess that makes us White Walkers.  Even with blazing sun all day the trees were still coated with ice north of "The Wall".

You need a surplus J79 from an old F-4.  That'll keep the Cablebandit homestead ice & snow free!  :D

Snowy ride to work this morning—and a bit hairy on the bridges.  Had just enough time to swing by my favorite coffeehouse (the Blue Moose) for some coffee to go and get to work (parked in a garage) before things got really nasty. (I'm banking on all the snow being gone by the end of the day, which is typically what happens...)

 I should have said favorite LOCAL coffeehouse.  :) It was fine today---nobody was there (I guess because of the snow). And the coffee was good!  (It was also a different local coffeehouse from the one where I waited 15mins...)

Up and out by 6:15. Rode to a meeting, it was 19 degrees (yay Gerbings). Swung out to the kids for a howdy and back home. A quick stop a few miles from home for a photo/video op. I didn't even think to look at the weather before I left. A quick fifty miles. Not bad for the day after Christmas in New England.

Check the weather indeed.

The one day I didn't take note of it and I wake up to more shovel-able snow.

Snowing again here.  Only expecting a moderate dusting.  Seems like more snow already then all of last year.
