SouthAfrica?

Very nice - what will your den look like in 6 months when you mount some heads?

Why no Cape Buff?  Permit issues?

Clearly a trip to remember.

South Africa:  Yes.

Den:  it will be full!  :)

Cape Buff:  It's on the list but didn't make the cut due to cost.  The cost for a single Buff is basically the same as all the other hunting I did combined.  But!  I did get within 40 yards of the Cape Herd (about 40 buff) while hunting the Hartebeest.  Buff are IMPRESSIVE animals.  I can't wait to break out my 9.3x74r or .375 H&H on them.

PS:  South Africa looks almost identical to Texas, doesn't it?

Some of the meat goes to the outfitter for consumption (ie:  dinner). The rest goes to the local families on the ranch for use.

Absolutely nothing goes to waste.  Antelope out there is as common as cow or chicken here in the states.  It was all fantastic!

Trina bagged two:  a small warthog for pork on the table and a small kudu for steaks. Delicious!

I figured as much, but it was nice hear  :)

And I realize that the game you're hunting is the equivalent to North American deer and the fact that you can hunt AND support the local economy is great. Not to mention the fact that it makes for a damn fine vacation  :bigok:

What a great trip!  I'm not a hunter but understand big game hunt hunting in Africa for hunters is one epic trip.  Congrats on a successful one!

My wife's is the full-stock Stutzen model and is easily the nicest rifle in the safe.  Full fiddle from stem to stern...this picture just doesn't do it justice.  I topped hers with a Leupold VX-6 1-6 circle-dot ret.

And here's mine topped with a Leupold FX3 6x42 with the LR duplex.  My Special K load is +/- 2" off the sighting dots to 500 yards.  What an unreal rifle and such an incredible joy to carry.

My K1 delivers groups like this, consistently, at 200 yards.  (*1.25").  It cloverleafs at 100...

Yeah, I LOVED that pic!  I kept hearing "you don't drink, don't smoke, what do ya do?" song in my head.   ;D

Top Right:  no smoking
bottom center:  No Showers???  I shake my head at that one!

Best part is:  that was on the door to an indoor mall!
