The kids and I took out the bikes yesterday
Oldest rode the Moped (recent full ground up restoration -father/son project)
Youngest got the Chappy (this is his 4 time on the bike & riding by himself)
Me on the 08GSA

OK what did I do maintenance wise? Well the chappy ran out of fuel, syphoned fuel from the GSA. Soon after the Moped ran out, again syphoned more fuel and added oil to tank of Moped. I may not have been watching fuel levels of the various machines but I did have a bottle of 2stroke and a hose on board

. We looked like a "mini bike" gang, but all the neighbors smiled and waved.

Changed the wheel bearings on the KLX and put the dirt wheels back on with new knobs.

Bonus score today. My wood router bearing took a shit during a project over the winter. I ended up buying a new router. Looked at the bearings I removed from the rear rim and one was the exact same as the router bearing. Put one in the router and works like new again. I can leave one on my router table now and have a second for free handing.

Finally got around to changing the rear tire on the Sprint. The one i got three flats in one day last August.

Pilot road 5 this time. I love new tire day, its like getting a new handling bike.

Just need for the rain to stop here so i can take it out.

Valve clearance check, 500 miles since the last. No movement, unlike the last couple times. The new valves seem to have found their spot. I'll check again in 500 miles, before I go to Montana.

I also degreased and decrustied the motor. A couple years of indifferent garaging weren't the best thing.

Pillion auditions to begin next weekend, hopefully. Pillion candidate #1 wants to go to Montana, not far from where I'm going (and she knows some of the people I'll be with), and then fly back after surprising her son on his birthday.

The tires on Ernst (red) were about half worn and probably wouldn't last the forthcoming trip to Montana. So fresh Michelins for him.

The half worn tires will be going on Edgar (black) after servicing the wheel bearings and refinishing the snowflakes. The tires that were on Edgar were from the 1980s. (!!) In my hands, they felt like bowling balls.

Wheels are back on Ernst. I took a ride to another guy who has three Airheads for sale. He's been posting these on CL for a couple years, asking a bit much. I got in touch because I have some time, space, and money and wanted to see if maybe he was just a shitty photographer.

No, he's actually a good photog. These bikes are BEAT! But he's the one who did the beating over the past 40 years. He's got Parkinson's or something similar. His hands tremble and he can't ride anymore. What he's got is a garage with at least 500,000 miles of memories and a price that guarantees he'll have those memories to look at for quite some time.

So I offered the usual (in my experience) price for three Airheads at once and he wouldn't consider it, nor did he have a counter. "Nice to meet you. You have my number." Oh well.

I replaced the tiny aftermarket pegs on my K13GT with used OEM's I got from Beemer Boneyard, and a footrest lowering kit I order direct from MV Technik. I replaced the barn door windshield with an OEM sized one from CalSci, and I found an OEM harness adapter to get the drivers heated seat working.

That's it for now I think. I may get a Heli bar riser kit at some point but for now I'm pretty satisfied with everything.

I've been ordering farkles for the new-to-me Indian Scout.
Handlebar Ram ball
heel-toe shifter
mini floor boards
1" Bar riser which was hard to find because it's not HD type
Sissy bar w/ pad aftermarket because it's a much cleaner design and cheaper than Indians
Wind screen/shield Dart Marlin w/ Scout specific mounting hardware Barely used from a fellow on the IndianRiders forum, at a great price

I sold the Mustang dual touring seat off my VStar 950 (on a VStar forum, which is where I got it), and that's paying for most of it .

Next will be single exhaust - or 2-into-1 slipon. Saddlebags after they're on and I measure for saddlebags.

I rode the snot out of it,I really need to bathe it.The bug guts are getting epic,but I can't pass up the infrequent sunny day to waste cleaning it.Plus the 17 year cicadas are in full bloom are here ,so you splat them 10 feet out of the driveway🤔

New rear tire (tyre for papa), new chain and sprockets. I screwed up on ordering sprockets- I ordered 14/45- I knew I wasn't stock.

Brain fart. 16/45. I made it better for touring. Course the old B12 has plenty of grunt anyway. Now I'm waiting for Mr. 16 to show up on Wednesday.

All fixored. It's amazing how the chain and sprockets get sloppy and noisy slowly- then you put a new set on and you're amazed at how smooth and quiet it is. At least that's what happened to me.

Washed it after a 3000ish mile trip to Montana, Alberta, BC and back through Washington and Oregon. Oh, and of course Oregon and Idaho on the way to Montana.

Valve adjust! Barely any movement over 3K miles. Much better than the same trip last year where I had to open the exhausts from less than zero clearance twice during the trip. I like my refurbed heads and I'm going to tell my refurber exactly that tomorrow.

She's a 08 GSA with the filler neck drilled to allow a bit more space.
