Finally got around to giving the “little bike that could” it’s first oil change. Dead easy to do. Doesn’t have an oil filter, but I pulled the little screen that passes for one and cleaned it up too. Specs call for changing oil every 1,800 miles, but it only takes 1liter of oil and ten minutes, so that’s hardly a burden, $$ or time wise.

Lubed everything up and took it for a quick ride. Shifted a little smoother and ran well. It was 88 in S TX today. The ride felt wonderful.

Yesterday I took my "Cinnamon Girl" to work, was a lovely ride. But alas she seems to feel neglected and let me know by giving me her I need "Service Lamp".
Well today I left her in the garage and took the "Grey Goat" (no service light, got to keep track of that one myself). On the way home got the material to service the Red Head.
My youngest and I went into the garage and I showed him how to service her. Henry had a fun time draining oil, r&r the filter, adding fresh oil. THen came the trans fluid, Henry did not see the point, as it looked the same going in as coming out. But he removed plugs and drained fluid and filled as I instructed him. We drained the used oil into the collection jug, this weekend we will bring it into the auto parts store.
Henry had a fun time of it, so did I. Yes it was fun having my 10 year old by my side interested in being part of "what Dad does in the garage" This was an oil change that will be remembered.
Tomorrow is the valve adj and throttle sync....

Put a cheap set of lower bars on it to get a better position for my back. If they work I will get a better set. No pics because I am lazy.

I was too cheap to shell out on a much needed tank bag because there are other cooler toys I need to budget in this summer so I ordered 10 magnets off amazon for $10 and got to work on turning a small tailbag I hated into a magnetic tank bag. Spent the whole day on it. I have zero sewing skills btw, this was a first time attempting it. I used an old T-shirt as fabric to hold the magnets.
So the next day I looked at it and was pretty awful looking and I took it all apart and started over. I cannibalized one of those helmet bags you get new helmets in, into a felt padded pockets for the magnets and got to work. I used the rest of the material as new lining cause I accidentally destroyed it on my first attempt.

I'm glad I don't have pics of my first attempt. Here is the final product, it ain't the prettiest but it will work for now. I cleaned up the stray threads after I took the pics.

I opened the inside liner also to attempt it your way. I couldn't get them to stay in place with tape/glue.

Luckily it was a "free" bike I got for doing a favor, and it had been down on that side once (or twice) before. It missed hitting anything else (by a few inches) so not so bad. It only broke new parts I bought for it, of course.

But in the end, I got the steering stem bearings lubed.

Made some light upgrades to the Sportster. The LED high beam may not look as powerful as the stock but believe me, it is quite bright. The LED tail light is amazingly bright. I think I posted the smoked indicators already but I'm not sure.

Did more reassembly of Fourstrings KLR. Cranked it and didn't hear any valves hitting the piston so I must of timed the motor rite.

Replaced the driveshaft housing/swingarm boots on the Cinnamon Girl. Lubed the driveshaft splines while there. Drained and filled final drive.
Think it is going to rain tomorrow, I'll ride to work just in case

Had Liz's VFR running for a bit yesterda... er... Sunday (the days all run together) and backed out of the shed while I moved a few things around. She's still working on recovering from her hip replacement so she's not sure she's ready to ride just yet. Me... I just don't have the time. The only thing I've done to any of the bikes is walk by and look at them, or start them up for a little bit here and there.

Started it for the first time since putting it away in December. Crank, crank, vroom. I love Hondas. Time to button up the side panels, install the new to me RDL seat, Gerbings pigtail and shuffle some stuff out of the way to the garage door. The car is still on jack stands for at least another week.

I actually rode it yesterday. In the snow. For like 5 minutes. Took the bike down to open the gate just in case my neighbor was out plowing and wanted something else to do. Apparently, he didn't or we locked the gate back up before he got around to it. Anyway, I keep forgetting that my rear tire is about shot. So I barely made it back up the steep parts of the driveway. There are two. So basically I just spun and duckwalked it up the hard parts as the tire eventually found rocks and jumped forward. Not efficient. Not a ride report.
