The morning didn't start out to good today
« on: June 21, 2014, 10:23:04 PM »
Left the house at 7:15am on the speedy for the ClayBQ. Got 6 miles from the house when someone decided to make me a hood ornament.

The light changed and when i let out the clutch it made a hiccup ans stalled. I looked in the mirror at the guy behind me and saw he wasn't going to stop. I braced for the impact.

It was rideable so i went back home and picked up the FJR and still made it to Clays by 12:45 eastern.

Yep.

I don't move or touch anything until the police get there. That way they can see what exactly happened.

Glad you're okay (you are okay, right?)

Was the other guy already moving or was he stopped behind you at the light?

It looks like the sub frame, Alou rack and plate, both cans, brake peddle, front turn signal, handle bars, and what really pisses me off is the tail light. It looks like Clear alternatives  is out of business and i had a hard enough time finding that one.

Shame about the bike, and the hard to find parts, but it was a relief to see your Mug later that day, Ed . . .

Parts is parts, but I doubt if there are any more of you in the warehouse . . . . .
We had two bags of grass, 75 pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a saltshaker half-full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers... Also, a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether, and two dozen amyls. Not that we needed all that for the trip, but once you get locked into a serious drug collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can.

On CTY C leaving Kettle South, headed to Wales. I got into that thick fog. Visor went blank, glasses were covered, and I came into a sun patch. It was like someone sticking paper in my face.

I got my vision back just in time to see the road turn. Panicked, hammered the brakes, and down I went.

Luckily I wasn't going real fast. 30 maybe, probably less since I had let off trying to get vision back.

Cliff notes: crazy fog plus bad decision.

I had nothing to do with Rob's (zixxer) crash. But i was on the way to the coffee shop Sunday to see him.

Also just got a call from the claims agent and it looks like Progressive will pay for everything and go after the other guys insurance for everything including my deductible. Just waiting for a call from the adjuster to look at it.

Ed

A pic of the boots (and the actual item when the adjustor shows up) should suffice . . . . along wiht the brand and model, you can furnish a replacement cost . . . . . you should only need paperwork on big ticket items (camera and the like) and things with titles . . . .

your agent gets a cut of every payment you send in. Put him (or her) to work for you.

Double +1 to what everyone else has commiserated upon. Shit.

I'd like to applaud your decision to head back home, load up your other bike (fuck you on that, but that's a personal issue I'll have to work through) and continue on your trip. The BBQ must be really worth it.

Pulled the FJR into the garage after a evening ride and saw a small spot of coolant under the right side of the radiator. (the side it fell on)  Will look at it closer tomorrow.

Also took the Alu rack off the back and was able to put the seat on and remove it with no problem. Looks like there's no damage to the sub frame.

Progressive was out today and after my deductible it came to $2400.00. I don't have the amount for my gear but it should be in the range of $1200.00. I should get the checks next week.

I was already to Triumph and got a new brake peddle and ordered some other parts.

Today i straighten out the exhaust and cans. They look a lot better than before but i still need to remove the mid section to bend it back into shape. Loosened and retightend the handle bar mounts. The bars don't feel like there bent any more.

When i get the checks it looks like I'll be doing some shopping.

Well leave it to Triumph to screw up part numbers. When i went to install the new brake peddle it was the wrong one. The pin that holds the springs are in the wrong place. Went back to the dealer and after almost a half an hour and several calls it looks like there was a vin # split and they have the same part# for both. They have a call into the big boys in the UK to figure this out.

Greg one of the owners of MCC welded a tab on to my old peddle so i at least have something to use.
