Cock-an explanation and an apology to Kevin
« on: May 23, 2014, 01:47:22 PM »
I kept writing Cock on various threads on Wednesday night.

This was because I had supported Kevin-an old acquaintance but not really a friend-in his appeal against the withdrawal against his long term sickness benefits (welfare). I wasn't sure that helping out this long term skiver and layabout-as I saw it-was quite right, ethically.

I won the appeal and his benefits were reinstated and he was expecting a decent size cheque for the last year to be repaid. He was over the moon. All his money problems were now over.

But me, if I had such serrious backpain (and I do), I'd have worked. Kevin didn't, for 25 years. He drew welfare. And last year, it was stopped. And I had it reinstated.

We won. He was pleased. I was conflicted on the "victory".

On Thursday night, he dropped dead. He was found this morning by a friend.

I'm sorry, Kevin, It seems I should not have doubted you. RIP.

Sorry to hear it, but I guess I'm the skeptical one thinking he was flush with cash and went out and "partied" too much and OD'd. I hope my skeptical side is incorrect, though either case won't bring him back.

Don't make it hard on yourself.  Remember your friendship with him and how you were were able to help.

RIP, Kevin.   :-\

Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.

No, he didn't do that. Lived modestly on his welfare cheque. Drank a bit too much and smoked.

We weren't really close and I was just doing him a favour-cost me £200 in lost wages but, hey.

Did he remember you in his will at least?
