Can this wheel be straightened?
« on: November 13, 2013, 09:57:48 AM »
Deer ran out in front of Liz last night, she swerved and missed it but hit a missing section on the side of the road. Call is in to Insurance, but if they don't cover it, we're looking at eating a wheel. I hope they do.

2009 Mazda Speed3, factory alloy wheels.

I've straightened factory steel wheels before, but never an alloy.

Yup.  We used to have wheels worse than that straightened back in my rental car days.

You'll need to find a place that specifically straightens wheels though.

Cool. I'll reach out; I just wasn't sure if it was too severe and since it's cast alloy, i wasn't sure it would go back.

Thanks.

It's actually pretty damn amazing what they can do, and that was 15 years ago.

Wow!  I thought the Alloy rims got work hardened and tended to crack.

Tell he next time not to swerve.  Covered by insurance and you'll eat for a month...

Glad she is okay. Glad you specified Mazda, for a second there I thought Liz went to the darkside and mounted a car tire on the FZ.

Hornet. She changes bikes faster than Chris, it would seem.

Not always by choice; the Fizzy went to the great tow yard in the sky.

Oh that's right, low side. Probably because she was running a car tire. I can't keep up with who rides what with those two.
