The story behind my screen name?

It's easier to type than "kilometers".

But are you using it as a measure of speed or distance?  :D

I raced motocross from 1986-2008. In 1990, I raced the national championships at Ponca City. They assigned me #547. After that, I just kept that number. When the chats, then message boards got popular, I always used my first name and bike number so I would be easier to find/identify at the tracks.

Thanks, credit for the pic goes to my buddy Chuck Ball out of Rogers, Arkansas. I saw him taking pic's so I tried really hard to nail the turn. I totally squidded out about a millisecond after the shot. I thought I had blown it...

I joined Compuserve when I bought my first computer back in 1992. The Compuserve manual suggested not using your real name as a "handle".

As I wuz reading this, there wuz a documentary about Orson Welles on the television so, I just grabbed the name on a whim.

I had just bought a new BMW R1100R and CT limited vanity plates to six letters. Bought a Ducati sold the Beemer traded in the plates. Then crashed the Duc and picked up a GS. Still don't have the vanity plate.

My bandmates back in the mid 90s nicknamed me brain because I was the keeper of the gear, and my favorite cartoon at the time was Pinky & The Brain.

Fast forward a few years, and I need a handle to use on the internet. One of the search paths I ended up on brought me to some articles on Brane theory. M is for music, motors, and Macs.

Peter visited me at college in the winter of 1998 and called me "Poof" because of my huge down jacket (hey, it's Wisconsin!).  So my nickname was Poof until spring of 1999 when I started dying my hair blue.  Then the nickname became bluepoof.  That's also when I registered my first website, so I chose bluepoof.com and...well, there you go.

My name is Steven Taylor. I used to go by Sarnali on another web site. That's from yelling at my daughters Sarah and Alison when they were little., IE "Sar-n-Ali knock it off".... Now they're grown up with kids of their own so it doesn't apply anymore.

First website I registered on was a forum for CBR600RR Hondas and fitting RR into your screen name was what all the cool kids were doing...

everything semi-clever was taken so I just went with where I live since it is somewhat of a riding destination.

I had a second job of delivering newspapers early mornings for about fifteen years.  With the shitty sleep I was getting, I couldn't get through most days, let alone a long ride, without a nap.

Tyler is probably just a stage name...I'm sure it's really that old lady from Aerosmith.

Back in the Usenet days I went by Max Wedge in some of the mopar and other groups. I am a third generation mopar guy, and I am about as old as any of maxwedge motors you may find in circulation. It was kind of what I was know by on Jeep forums, so when I came to the motorcycle forums, it is a pretty easy name to get and/or keep.
