A quick tire (tyre for Papa) question.
« on: April 20, 2014, 03:58:03 AM »
I've killed another set of PR2s and failed inspection (Massachusetts blows) because them.

It seems that life has reduced the amount of miles I put down in a year and with the second spawning entering college in the fall I need to save a few bucks.

I'm looking for opinions based on experience here.

How are the Pilot Power series from Michelin?

My riding style isn't madly aggressive but spirited.

Pilot 2s have a good reputation, despite there being a scare story regarding blowouts last year. Which I believed at first but then I'm very gullible.

To be clear since I ate a lot of paint chips as a kid, The PP2 had blowouts?

Was that an STO/N thing or real world news?

Real world news but turned out to be nonsense.

I'm running Bridgestones Battleaxes at present. Seem okay to me. Before that, as the Thunderbird could only fit a few tyres, Avon Azaros. Okay but not top of the tree.

Now you made me get wet in the rain. And I still couldn't get the number. Bike's under cover and it's dark in there.

I use the 023's. Very good in the wet. Decent milage.

Pilot Powers will perform well but won't last.

I think a few folks have run the Continental Conti-Motion t(iy)res to save some bucks with good success.

Sweet!
Cheers!

$The Continue Motions are $162.00 for the set shipped on amazon. I think the local (Hartford Ct) Cycle gear is similar.

Getting a set for less than the price of a single rear Michelin is certainly enticing.

Agreed. The PR2s I have on it now would definitely last a few more miles. I'm used to the cupping on the front and the cord isn't showing on the back.

The first ticket for no inspection is $50 and I believe they increase with each one. The State Trooper hive is fairly local and they can be raging dicks about things. The local boys could give a shit.

Friends swear on the Conti-Motions and love them.  Similar mileage to the bridgestone 016's I believe.  Not a true touring tire but has plenty of grip and decent longevity.
