I'm pretty sure I would eat a tree or 5 if I attempted that.

Nice.   That looks like a beautiful area to ride.   Doesn't look like the trails get much use.

the 4 wheeler and side x side trails get beat to hell, but luckily the single track gets very little use.

it's a pretty decent trail system:  https://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/fseprd568481.kmz (https://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/fseprd568481.kmz)

Holy cow!   That is a lot of trails.   Thanks for the map file.

It looks like a very high percentage are dead end trails.     Are they all multi-use; i.e. hiking, mtn bike, dirt bike, etc?     I've been to or through the area a couple of times but never with a dirt bike or dual sport bike.    I might need to make this a destination at some point.

most of the dead ends are forest service roads. the trails on the map are the "legal" trails. there are a lot of illegal trails as well.... If you want to do off road I believe there are almost 4,000mi. of everything from gravel to single track. I'm not very fast, or in very good shape but 70 Miles of singletrack is about all I can do in a day.

Great trail system.  I know that's more difficult than it looks in the video.

the video never captures the reality, it always looks so easy.

haha,, I wouldn't do it.. no way I would ride this stuff on the 1190, the video doesn't do it justice.  70 miles of it on the 300 and I'm shot..   but your skill level may be higher than mine?   I'll come along to watch though  ;D

Oh Heeeeeeeeck no.  Not that stuff.  Some other easier stuff.  I would like to try to keep up on the 790 doing stuff you do on the 1290.  It would still probably result in a miserable fail but man would it be fun.  Preferably not in the rain...and cold... and slime.

Might that offer extend to others with a 790?  ;D

I'll be passing through the area end of August/beginning of September on my way west. I have dug around a bit and found a few routes to try but nothing compares to local knowledge!

I had a good time on my brief stop in the Black Hills. I wasn't able to stay long enough to attempt to hook up with any local riders while there but had I fun exploring on my way west. Put together short video of some of the stuff I hit while out there.
