Taking a vacation to Kitty Hawk
« on: August 25, 2017, 09:15:58 AM »
I'm spending a week in Kitty Hawk, NC and will most likely take the scooter on this trip. From what I can see there isn't too many options for fun routes to this area from VA. Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Eric

The scoot will be fun while you're down there but the trip itself will likely suck.  That's a flat boring ride.

Pics of doing donuts on the beach are mandatory.

Bill, agreed.

I don't think I can make it to Charleston, SC but I really want to go see the Hunley but it's 7+ hours each way from Kitty Hawk. :( I'm still working on a plan. I may ride to see the Hunley and then over to Kitty Hawk. I'm not sure if I'll do a ride report, it will be a boring trip for the most part.

There are options between Petersburg and the Tidewater area that are much more enjoyable.

Sept. 9th though the 16th and no on making time. I can't enter the rental house on the beach till 4 PM so I'll be heading out around lunch time as it's roughly a 4 hour trip.

Of course its the week we'll be in Colorado..   :-[

An easy modification to the middle route shown... stay on Rte 5 along the north shore of the James River and take it to the Jamestown Museum.  There's a free ferry that crosses the river.  From there work you're way back to Rte 10 continue south.

Irma is doing her best to put the kabash on this planned trip. I guess the next 48 hours will tell the tale of go or no go. :(
