Yikes.
You never see a motorcycle parked outside a psychiatrists' office.

I fell asleep during a 'Supported Fish' pose yesterday.  Teacher says I didn't snore but woke me up when the rest of the class moved on to the next pose.  Supported Fish looks like this:

Yes, I fell asleep with a block holding me up between the shoulder blades.  This is only in the second week of the day job at Teh Number Store.  Usually I'm not falling asleep in non-Savasana poses until late March or April.  April 18th looks so far away.
Call me Mel. Some years ago- never mind how long precisely- having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me at home, I thought I would ride about a little and see the other parts of the world. It is a way I have of driving off the spleen and regulating the circulation.

Beat me to it although I was going to put this in Weird News  Someone needs to go read the Bhagavad Gita again. Like I'm thinking about the wrongs of the past while I'm doing yoga *sigh*

Just enjoy yoga for how it makes you feel (better hopefully).

Curious as to whether this *news* is being discussed in any yoga class?

Quote from: Shreena Gandhi
recent immigrants, such as Indian women to whom this practice rightfully belongs,”

I've been told that the practice belongs to Indian men more than Indian women.  My teachers tell me that all the Warrior 1, 2, and 3 stuff comes from ancient Indian military academies.

That said, there's a helluva lotta cultural appropriation.  I took a couple classes in San Diego from a Padma.  Her accent was Hebrew, not Hindi.........

So question: I bought a Gaiam mat, and it is more slippery than I think it should be, any way to grippy them up? It was distracting, and made thing way harder.

In reading some reviews on Amazon, some suggested washing it in the tub and wiping it down with vinegar-I will try that.

Near my place all of the beginner yoga classes start about 930.  I guess they don't want working beginners.  I travel for work so the mornings are the best for me, I am not home in the evenings at any certain time.

Has anyone found a good beginner yoga youtube channel?

I like Yoga with Adrienne.  She apparently has an episode where she talks about all the different poses.  She does episodes with a lot of different lengths, so you can spend as much time as you want.
She's got a worm in 'er belly? That's disgusting! That's interesting, but very disgusting.

Yeah - that's one of the poses in my repertoire always. It's ok to bend your knees a bit and work toward straightening them. You can also drop to your elbows if that helps.

Edit: Looks like she does talk about bending the knees. But if your wrists bother you, try your elbows (aka Dolphin Pose)

Thanks for the info. It was my forearms and shoulders that were the issue.

My legs felt like I ran up 10 flights of stairs.

I guess round isn't the best shape after all. So much for Nature being correct.

I was told that downward dog is a 'resting' pose.  Have you tried the Down Dog App for your phone?
