On a related note, how many here keep a spare key stashed on their bike?

It is advised not to on any BMW with the antenna ring/chip key. When traveling with the kid, I take his spare, he takes mine. Otherwise, no.

I use  simple valet two piece key chain. Maybe a dollar at the hardware store. One side has key, other side has house key, Givi top case key, spare motorcycle key and usually a small knife. Here's an old pic from an old bike key, still use same key chain for both my Tuono and VFR12. Small enough that it doesn't bang into anything or cause scratch marks. Keys go in pocket of motorcycle jacket when riding right next to my wallet.

Sometimes, the only answer is defenestration.

I do on all my bikes. I duct tape in a body panel that requires removal of body parts with tools to get to.

It's a couple months on but...

The only thing I don't like about the Tiger is that you can't carry an extra key. They key has a built in immobilizer (it has to be in proximity to the bike for it to start). Having two of them near the bike messes up the circuit.

I'm looking for a locksmith that can make a key without the built in digital stuff. It wouldn't start the bike, but I could open the luggage on a quick stop without removing the lone ignition key I can carry with me.

I used to keep a spare key to the KLR under the seat, but that was a few years ago now (I still miss that bike  :'( )

Now Dan and I have a tag-team spare key system: I keep his spare key in my top case, and he keeps my spare key in his top case  8)  Of course, if I'm riding alone then I just have to keep in mind that I might have a long wait for Dan to come find me if I ever lose my key

And for my current key chain, I was lazy and just kept the nice plastic tag that came from the dealer when I bought the bike.

I don't care about a few scratches on the triple, so I just have your normal wound-spring ring with the bike key, house key, luggage key (where applicable).
